Support Worker

Role Overview

As a Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in the lives of individuals with psychosocial disabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to provide one-on-one support, assisting individuals in achieving their personal goals, developing life skills, and participating actively in their communities. This role requires empathy, effective communication, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of others. 

Key Responsibilities

  •  Build strong rapport and trust with individuals under your care.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment that encourages social interaction and personal development.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary person-centred team to create and implement individualised care      plans in line with client goals.
  • Assist clients in daily activities, including hygiene routines, meal preparation and household tasks.
  • Encourage and facilitate community engagement and social interactions.
  • Provide emotional support and help clients develop coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress.

Qualifications and Skills

  •  Previous experience in a similar support role is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine interest in improving the lives of others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of psychosocial disabilities and mental health considerations.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Existing Qualifications - considered upon application.
  • Valid Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
